The website of the podcast Stories of Iceland has now been joined the #Fediverse. You might not know what the Fediverse is (unless of course you are seeing this post on the Fediverse) so let me explain. The Fediverse connects many different social media networks, the most famous being #Mastodon, by using a common protocol called #ActivityPub. Now sites powered by #Wordpress can also join. The Fediverse might be the best hope we have for keeping the open web open and out of the hands of giant corporations.

I did not manage to connect my #Wordpress #blog to the #Fediverse (likely because it isn't in the root directory of the domain) but I did get my podcast (also WordPress) to join.

Do I still have to use #Gravatar to set my profile picture on #Wordpress? Is there an easier way to do this?
If you have your own domain and use #Wordpress it is extremely easy to connect to the #Fediverse. People really should do this.
